In fall of 2015, Salem-Keizer Public Schools will offer free full-day kindergarten programs. Half-day kindergarten will no longer be offered in Salem-Keizer, however many private kindergarten providers will still offer half-day programs. Children are not required to attend kindergarten, but attendance is strongly recommended.
Registration for fall 2015 full-day kindergarten opens Tuesday, February 17, 2015.
Parents are asked to register for kindergarten as soon as possible. The district needs to know how many students will be attending in order to prepare an adequate number of classrooms, materials, supplies, etc.
Children who will turn five years old on or before September 10, 2015, are eligible to register.
To register, please visit the school assigned to serve your residence address and pick up a registration packet. To find the school that serves your residence, visit the boundary information page.
Complete the forms in the registration packet (registration form, immunization form, home language survey) and return them to your assigned school. You'll need to bring proof of residence address and an original birth certificate for the child when you return the forms.
